Day 61 and 62 Geneva, NY

Miles 56
It was raining lightly when we left Bill's house but he joined us for a little while on the road and then agreed to meet us lat that morning for breakfast.
The three of us biked north on Hwy 19 out of Wyoming and the rain and wind both picked up. By the time we reached Hwy 20 to head east the rain was being thrown sideways by the wind. We stopped after 25 miles in Avon for breakfast. Paula and Bill arrived to join us.
The restaurant was quite chilly and after we ate Dave and Neal decided to go warm up in the car. I headed east on Hwy 20 and knew they would catch me before too long.
It was a cold and windy day for biking and after 56 miles I stopped in Canandaigua which is on the north end of Canadaigua lake for a few beers and some food. Pretty much soaked, I thought the alcohol would warm me up, but it didn't.
Dave and Neal let me know that they were at a bike shop in Canandaigua, Neal had a flat tire, his 2nd one in a week. Afterwards they joined me with Paula. With the weather still miserable we headed to Geneva, where a friend of Bills was going to let us camp at his marina on Seneca Lake. When we arrived the weather was talking with us and convinced us to get a hotel for the night. The forecast was nasty and I was shivering. Tent, hotel? Tent? HOTEL!
We stayed at the Days in in Geneva. We had tried 5 or 6 other hotels and they were the only one wth rooms left. The was a dog show in town all weekend and this was a big event for a small town. People probably needed extra beds for their dogs, I know, there were quite a few dogs in our hotel that night. Neal and I thought it would be funny to antagonize the dogs by going down the hall barking like a dog, but we didn't. We figured the whole place would have quickly sounded like a kennel!
Another cold and windy day forecasted for Sunday convinced us that a day off in Geneva would be a good idea. After breakfast we drove out to see the dog show at Sampson State park. They had tents set up for the showings but the whole place was muddy, dogs too. We only stayed for 45 minutes and decided to get back into the truck and out of the cold rain.
Geneva is a college town and we drove around looking at the old buildings and historic homes of the city. Dave actually spent two seasons here when he was younger and played professional baseball.
That afternoon, we met some friends of Neal's Becky, Tom and their daughter Ainsley at the Belhurst Winery in Geneva. It was right on the lake and originally was built as a castle. We tasted their wines and then had lunch which was great.
That night, Neal and I saw the movie Killer Elite. It was a good action packed script with good acting but a typical storyline.
